The Regional Research Centre for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia, under the Auspices of UNESCO (Tehran ICH Centre) organised a workshop to train journalists working in the area of ICH in the 2003 UNESCO Convention for safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage.
These workshops that were held as side events to the 3rd Executive Board meeting of the Centre, aimed at awareness-raising on the Convention and its implementation, relevant terminology, and the role of trained journalists in raising public awareness and governmental knowledge and capacities.
The workshop was taught by instructors from the culture, political sciences, private and media sectors. The diverse choice of instructors was linked to the interdisciplinary nature of ICH.
In addition to national instructors, the second day of the workshop was addressed by Expert Members on the Governing Council of the Tehran ICH Centre from Armenia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan.
At the end of the two-day workshop, the participants received certificates of attendance.
