On 30th of January 2024, Tehran ICH Centre was hosted by ECOCI to the second round of ECOCI-Tehran ICH Centre Ties meetings. In addition to HE the President of ECOCI, Dr Saad S Khan, who generously hosted the event, participants to the meeting included HE the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the IR of Iran, the Honourable Mr Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Ms Farhat Jabeen Ali, Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan for Press, Culture, Education and Tourism, Dr Atusa Momeni, Director General of the Regional research Centre for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and central Asia (Tehran ICH Centre), and a number of staffs from ECOCI and Tehran ICH Centre.
The Meeting that was held as a request placed by the Tehran ICH Centre for discussions on the possibility of organising an “Iran-Pakistan Cultural Night” in the Capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tehran, to highlight the cultural commonalities of the two neighbouring and brother countries ended successfully, marking early March 2024 to celebrate the countries’ common cultural ties. The event aims at harnessing the soft power of living heritage in their various manifestations for sustainable development and the strengthening of intercultural interactions between Iran and Pakistan.
Additionally, talks on enhancing cooperation with ECOCI were continued and decisions were made that would bring the countries of both the ECO and Tehran ICH Centre’s regions closer in cultural cooperation.
